Red-ruby. Tangy, floral, compellingly sweet aromas of black cherry, cocoa powder and fresh herbs. Very silky and sweet, even thick today, but extremely backward. In fact, the flavors are currently a bit monolithic even if powerful acids give the wine a compelling vibrancy. Finishes very long, ripely tannic and sweet, with notes of bitter chocolate and licorice. I prefer the Amoureuses today.- Stephen Tanzer (03/1999)
