The nose presents bold American character—new oak influence provides vanilla and caramel sweetness balanced by rich malt, dark chocolate, and subtle fruit notes. The Oregon terroir shows in particular ways: hints of Douglas fir, sea salt, and the particular sweetness from Northwest barley. Coffee and baking spices add depth, while subtle smoke provides intrigue without dominating.Tasting Westward reveals why American single malt excites whiskey enthusiasts. Initial sweetness from American oak gives way to complex malt flavors enhanced by careful fermentation with ale yeast. Notes of brownies, espresso, and dried fruits create indulgent richness balanced by subtle minerality and spice. The pot still distillation provides weight and texture that carries flavors beautifully. Mid-palate brings orange peel, cinnamon, and hints of leather that add sophistication. The finish is long and warming with evolving notes of grain, oak, and subtle smoke. This single malt serves as perfect introduction to American whiskey innovation while offering complexity for seasoned drinkers. Westward has created an American single malt that stands confidently on the world stage, proving that whiskey excellence knows no borders when passion and quality ingredients combine.
