Sentencia Lluvia Garnacha 2021 750ml
Description
Sentencia Lluvia, meaning ‘Rain Sentence,’ captures the essence of high-altitude Garnacha from forgotten vineyards where rainfall is precious and vines struggle to survive. This 2021 bottling showcases the purity and intensity that comes from extreme viticulture, creating wines of remarkable character.
The wine presents a vibrant ruby color with purple reflections. On the nose, Sentencia offers an intriguing blend of concentration and freshness—ripe blackberries and cherries mingle with intense floral notes of violets and roses. The high-altitude terroir contributes pronounced mineral notes and a distinctive coolness to the fruit. Wild herbs, white pepper, and a hint of smoke add complexity, while the minimal intervention approach allows the terroir to speak clearly.
The palate delivers intensity wrapped in elegance. Medium-bodied with fine, grippy tannins, Sentencia shows how altitude can tame Garnacha’s sometimes rustic character. Fresh berry flavors are given extra dimension by persistent mineral notes and herbs. The natural acidity is remarkable, creating energy and lift that makes the wine incredibly food-friendly. This is Garnacha that emphasizes place over variety, showing how extreme conditions can create wines of unique character.
Sentencia Lluvia represents thoughtful winemaking from challenging terroirs. By working with old vines in marginal areas, they’ve created something distinctive that offers real value. The finish is long and mineral-driven, with fruit and herb notes that linger. Perfect for those seeking authentic Spanish wine with character, this offers an alternative to more commercial styles. Sometimes the most interesting wines come from the most difficult places.
