Probitas Blended Rum White Rum 750ml
Description
Experience the revival of authentic Caribbean white rum with Probitas, a collaboration between two rum legends – Foursquare of Barbados and Hampden Estate of Jamaica. This innovative blend combines the elegance of Bajan rum with the funk of Jamaican pot still rum, creating a white rum that challenges everything you thought you knew about the category. Probitas, meaning ‘honesty’ and ‘uprightness’ in Latin, lives up to its name by presenting rum without additives, coloring, or sugar – just pure, unadulterated Caribbean excellence.
The collaboration creates aromatic magic that showcases both distilleries’ strengths. Foursquare’s column and pot still blend provides a smooth, vanilla-touched foundation with subtle tropical fruit notes. Hampden’s high-ester pot still rum adds the wild card – funky notes of overripe banana, pineapple, and that distinctive Jamaican ‘hogo’ that rum geeks prize. The combination creates complexity rarely found in white rum, with additional notes of fresh sugarcane, lime zest, and a subtle grassiness that adds freshness.
On the palate, Probitas delivers proof that white rum can be both clean and characterful. The initial taste is smooth and approachable thanks to Foursquare’s contribution, with vanilla and light tropical fruit notes. But then Hampden’s influence emerges, adding layers of complexity with controlled funk, tropical fruit intensity, and that ineffable Jamaican character. The blend is perfectly calibrated – enough funk to be interesting without overwhelming those new to Jamaican rum. Mid-palate brings notes of coconut water, white pepper, and a subtle salinity that adds dimension. The finish is clean yet flavorful, with lingering tropical fruit and a gentle warmth. This is white rum reimagined for the craft cocktail era – complex enough to shine in a daiquiri or mai tai, smooth enough to sip, and authentic enough to satisfy purists. Probitas represents a new standard for white rum, proving that transparency and quality go hand in hand.
