Maha Backlit Red Blend Paso Robles 2020 is a dark, bold red from the Adelaida District. Syrah leads the blend, while Petite Sirah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, and Grenache add depth, grip, and lift. As a result, the wine feels rich, layered, and full of westside Paso Robles character.The nose opens with dark fruit, forest floor, orange pekoe tea, and wild herbs. Then the palate moves into blackberry, bramble, chocolate, pepper, and a firm mineral edge. Syrah gives the wine plush fruit and spice, while Petite Sirah adds color and power. Meanwhile, Mourvèdre brings earth, Carignan adds tension, and Grenache gives a touch of red-fruited lift.Maha farms with certified organic and biodynamic methods. Because of that care, Backlit shows a clear link to its rugged estate site. The fruit ferments with native yeast in concrete, with 15% whole clusters for added texture. It then ages for 20 months in French barriques and puncheons, with 33% new oak.At 14.8% ABV, this 2020 red offers strength without feeling heavy. The texture feels broad and smooth, yet firm tannins keep the finish focused. In addition, notes of dark berry, spice, herbs, and cocoa linger with real depth.Serve slightly below room temperature after a decant. Then pair it with grilled lamb, smoked brisket, braised short ribs, mushroom stew, or aged cheddar.
