Linne Calodo Problem Child Red Blend Paso Robles 2022 750ml
Description
Linne Calodo Problem Child Red Blend Paso Robles 2022 is a bold, expressive red with the energy and edge that have made this wine a house favorite. Built around 65% Zinfandel, it also includes Carignan, Mourvèdre, and Syrah. As a result, it feels ripe, layered, and unmistakably Paso Robles. The fruit comes from the Willow Creek District, with Zinfandel drawn mainly from the Poppy and Whalebone blocks at Heaton Vineyard. Those dry-farmed, head-trained vines bring bright cherry character and natural lift. Meanwhile, Carignan adds snap, Mourvèdre adds earth, and Syrah brings darker texture.Aromas of dark vine fruit, cherry blossom, boysenberry, and cocoa rise first. Then the palate turns lush and mouthfilling, with cherry, fruit leather, graham cracker, and tobacco-earth notes. The texture feels rich and broad, yet the wine keeps enough acidity to stay lively.Linne Calodo crafts this blend with native yeast and whole-berry fermentation in small open-top tanks. In addition, the wine ages for 17 months in American oak, including larger puncheons and barriques. The oak adds warmth and spice without hiding the Zinfandel-driven fruit. At 15.4% ABV, Problem Child offers full-bodied presence and serious personality. Serve it with smoked brisket, grilled ribs, lamb, peppered steak, barbecue chicken, or aged cheddar. Also, give it a short decant to let its fruit, spice, and savory depth fully open.
