Denner Ditch Digger Rhone Blend Paso Robles 2022 is a bold, deeply textured red with a clear Southern Rhone influence. Denner builds this vintage around Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Syrah, then adds Graciano, Garnacha, Carignan, Cinsault, and Counoise for added detail. As a result, the wine feels layered, savory, and distinctly Paso Robles.The nose opens with wild strawberry, mulberry, red plum, and anise. Then notes of garrigue, wet stone, and earthy spice add a darker, more complex edge. On the palate, generous red and black fruit meets savory herb, mineral, and subtle pepper. Meanwhile, the Mourvèdre brings depth, Grenache adds lift, and Syrah gives the wine richness and shape.Denner ferments this wine with 37% whole clusters, which adds fragrance, grip, and energy. The team then ages it for 20 months in mostly used 500L and 600L barrels, along with a smaller portion in concrete tank. Because of this careful aging, the wine keeps its fruit pure while gaining texture and polish.At 14.6% ABV, Ditch Digger delivers power without feeling heavy. Its broad mouthfeel, earthy tension, and long finish make it both serious and inviting. Serve it slightly below room temperature after a decant. Pair it with braised lamb, grilled sausages, short ribs, roasted mushrooms, or herb-crusted pork.
