Angostura 7 Year Aged Rum 750ml
Description
Step up to serious rum appreciation with Angostura 7 Year, where two additional years of aging transform good rum into something special. This expression showcases how patience rewards the rum maker, as extended time in charred bourbon barrels adds layers of complexity while maintaining the vibrant character that defines Caribbean rum. The result is a sophisticated spirit that satisfies both casual drinkers and rum connoisseurs seeking quality without extreme premiums.
Deep gold color hints at the extra aging and complexity within. The nose shows marked development from the 5-year—richer notes of toffee and dark honey mingle with evolved tropical fruits, now showing more dried character like dried mango and papaya. Spices are more pronounced, with cinnamon, nutmeg, and black pepper adding depth. Oak notes of vanilla and subtle tobacco emerge without overwhelming. On the palate, the additional aging shows its worth—silky texture carries flavors of butterscotch, dark chocolate, and coffee alongside the fruit and spice. The integration is notably superior, with all elements in harmony.
What makes Angostura 7 Year special is how those extra two years elevate every aspect. The additional aging rounds out rough edges, integrates flavors, and adds complexity that moves this firmly into sipping rum territory. Yet it retains enough vibrancy to enhance cocktails, making it remarkably versatile. This sweet spot between accessibility and sophistication has made it a favorite among those graduating from basic rums to more serious expressions.
Best appreciated neat or with a single ice cube to open up its complexity, though it makes exceptional premium cocktails. Perfect for rum Old Fashioneds or elevated tiki drinks. For those ready to explore aged rum’s potential without extreme investment, Angostura 7 Year offers an ideal next step in rum appreciation.
