Angostura 1824 Aged Rum 750ml
Description
Experience the pinnacle of Caribbean rum craftsmanship with Angostura 1824, a premium aged rum that showcases Trinidad’s distilling excellence. Named for the year of Angostura’s founding, this exceptional rum blends spirits aged up to 12 years in charred American oak barrels, creating a sophisticated spirit that rivals the world’s finest cognacs and whiskies. Each bottle represents nearly two centuries of rum-making expertise from the house that gave the world its most famous bitters.
Deep mahogany color reflects the extensive aging and careful blending. The nose is remarkably refined—rich notes of toffee, dark chocolate, and dried fruits mingle with subtle spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Orange peel and tobacco leaf add sophistication, while the oak influence provides structure without dominating. On the palate, 1824 delivers exceptional smoothness and complexity—waves of butterscotch, honey, and tropical fruits balanced by dark chocolate, coffee, and gentle oak tannins. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of spice and dried fruit.
What distinguishes Angostura 1824 is the masterful blending of different aged rums to create perfect harmony. The rum master carefully selects barrels to achieve a profile that showcases both the fruity esters of younger rums and the complex wood notes of older spirits. This art of blending, combined with Trinidad’s ideal aging conditions, creates a rum of exceptional balance and sophistication. The result has earned numerous international awards and established 1824 as a benchmark for premium aged rum.
Best savored neat in a snifter to appreciate its cognac-like complexity, though a single ice cube can open additional flavors. Too refined for mixing, this is rum for contemplation. For those seeking Caribbean rum at its most sophisticated, Angostura 1824 offers a masterclass in the art of rum blending.
