For sheer elegance, charm, and finesse, the 1985 Ducru-Beaucaillou has it all. The wine is close to full maturity, yet retains a vibrancy and youthfulness that is unusual for a 1985. The generous flavors are soft, but not flabby. The wine possesses outstanding concentration yet is elegant and refreshing. This is a beautifully knit, harmonious Ducru. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. – RP, WA (3/1997)

Tasted from magnum. Seductive and beautiful. Minty, rich and fruity aromas and flavors caress the palate and tickle the throat. Medium- to full-bodied, with super firm tannins and a long, silky finish. Drink now or hold; will improve with age.–Cabernet Challenge. – WS (9/1996)
